TV wall mounting

You can supply a bracket, but send its model before booking. It needs to suit the TV's mounting pattern and weight as well as the wall and desired movement. If you have not bought one, send the TV model first. The wall-mounting preparation guide covers the useful photos and measurements.

A TV can be fitted to some plasterboard-finished walls using an arrangement suitable for the support behind the board and the exact bracket. A timber-stud partition is different from plasterboard over masonry with a gap behind it. An extended swivel arm also puts greater turning force on its support than the same TV held close to the wall. Surface cable tidying can be agreed with the mounting job. Concealed routes, chasing and making good need separate assessment. Moving or adding a mains socket is electrical installation work, so it is not automatically included in a TV-bracket quote. Share the existing socket positions and the finish you want.

An existing bracket can be reused when its size and weight limits, mounting pattern, complete locking parts and wall connection suit the replacement TV. Matching the screw-hole pattern is only one check: missing rails, unsuitable TV-side bolts or a heavier screen can change the decision. Start with the centre of the screen near your normal seated eye level, then check the view from the seats you use and the TV's required clearances. That does not translate into one floor measurement for every home, and the screen centre is not the bracket-hole height.
